Quick Product Summary: 10m x 150mm grey self-adhesive flashing tape for medium-width sealing jobs. Best for roof edge details, wider gutter repairs, flashing laps, skylight edges and roof sheet overlaps where smaller rolls may not give enough cover. Porous brick, blockwork or concrete may need priming before application.

Sika Black Jack Self-Adhesive Flashing Tape 10m x 150mm is a grey, self-adhesive flashing tape for sealing wider roof joints, broader overlaps, gutter edges and flashing repair areas. It is made with an aluminium foil face and a bitumen rubber adhesive backing, allowing it to form a waterproofing strip when pressed firmly onto a clean, dry and suitable surface.

The 150mm width gives more coverage than the 100mm roll, making it better suited to wider seams, roof edge details, parapet flashing, skylight areas, gutter repairs, roof ridges and roof sheet fixings where a narrow tape may not cover enough of the repair zone. It is suitable for roofers, builders, maintenance teams and competent DIY users working on prepared roofing felt, gutters, roof sheets, brickwork, blockwork, concrete, timber and metal surfaces.

Where This 150mm Flashing Tape Fits

This wider flashing tape is used when the repair needs more surface coverage than a narrow detail tape, but still needs a manageable roll width for accurate placement.

  • Sealing wider roof joints, seams and flashing overlaps.
  • Repairing existing flashing where additional width is needed.
  • Waterproofing gutter edges, gutter joints and roofline details.
  • Sealing around skylights, roof glazing and parapet wall details.
  • Sealing roof ridges, capping bolts and roof sheet fixing details.
  • Repairing cracks in suitable prepared concrete and similar building surfaces.
  • Creating a lead-look waterproofing strip on suitable prepared roof and building surfaces.

Key Performance Benefits

  • Wider Repair Coverage: The 150mm width covers broader seams, laps and roof details than the 100mm roll.
  • Self-Adhesive Backing: The bitumen rubber adhesive backing removes the need for a separate glue on suitable prepared surfaces.
  • Lead-Look Finish: The aluminium foil face gives a natural lead-look finish for roof and flashing repair work.
  • Practical 10m Roll: The roll length is suitable for several repair runs, roofline sections or gutter sealing tasks.
  • Cut-To-Length Application: The tape can be measured and cut to suit the repair area before the backing is removed.
  • Useful Middle Width: The 150mm roll sits between narrow detail tape and the broader 225mm, 300mm and 450mm options.

Why Choose This 150mm Flashing Tape

Choose Sika Black Jack 150mm flashing tape when the repair area is too wide for a 100mm strip but does not need a much broader 225mm, 300mm or 450mm roll. It is a useful middle-width option for roof edges, gutter joints, wider seams, skylight details, roof ridges and flashing repairs where extra overlap helps cover the joint properly.

For tight details, narrow roof seams or small local repairs, the 100mm roll may be easier to handle and reduce waste. For larger roof patches, broad flashing zones or wide sheet repairs, 225mm, 300mm or 450mm tape may be more suitable.

Applying The 150mm Tape On Medium-Width Repairs

This tape is applied after the repair area has been cleaned, dried and checked for stability.

  • Step 1: Prepare the surface by removing dust, dirt, oil, grease, loose material and surface contamination.
  • Step 2: Prime porous surfaces such as concrete or brick where required, then allow the primer to dry before applying the tape.
  • Step 3: Measure and cut the tape to length, then position it over the joint or repair area.
  • Step 4: Remove the release backing gradually while pressing the tape firmly into place.
  • Step 5: Use a small roller to seal edges and overlaps, making sure no air is trapped beneath the tape.

When 150mm Flashing Tape Is Not The Best Fit

This 150mm flashing tape is a medium-width option for roof and flashing repairs. It may not be the best choice for small detail work or wider repair areas that need more coverage in one strip.

  • Do not apply to: Damp, wet, dirty, oily, greasy, loose, crumbling or unstable surfaces.
  • Use a smaller roll for detail areas: For capping bolts, small seams, fixing points and tight gutter corners, 75mm or 100mm tape may be easier to position.
  • Use a wider roll for larger repairs: For parapet details, larger skylight edges, wide roof sheet overlaps or broader waterproofing patches, 225mm, 300mm or 450mm tape may be more suitable.
  • Prime first where needed: Porous brick, blockwork, concrete and similar absorbent surfaces may need Sika Black Jack Bitumen and Flashing Primer before application.

Quick Use Guide

The following application points are based on manufacturer technical guidance and should be checked against the current data sheet before use.

  • Apply within the manufacturer-stated application temperature range of 5°C to 40°C.
  • Check that the surface is dry, sound and free from loose material before application.
  • Remove oil, grease, dust, dirt and surface contamination before applying the tape.
  • Prime porous or absorbent surfaces where required, then allow the primer to dry before applying the tape.
  • Cut the tape to the required length before application.
  • Peel back around 5cm of the release backing, position the tape, then continue removing the backing while pressing the tape into place.
  • Press firmly across the full tape width and length to improve adhesion and avoid trapped air.
  • Use a small roller to seal edges and overlaps properly.
  • Allow overlaps of at least 25mm.
  • Do not apply to damp surfaces.
  • In cold weather or after cold storage, adhesion may be reduced. Bring the tape up to temperature or warm the bitumen adhesive layer with a hot air blower if needed.
  • Always check the current manufacturer technical data sheet before use.

Safety: Wear protective gloves, safety glasses and suitable protective clothing when handling and applying this flashing tape. Apply from a safe working position, take care when cutting with a sharp knife or scissors, avoid unsupported roof access, and do not discharge waste or residue into drains or watercourses.
