Product Details: Brand: Sika | Range: Black Jack | Product Type: Self-Adhesive Flashing Tape | Size: 10m x 225mm | Colour: Grey | Product Code: FLAS225 | SKU: 482961 | MPN: FLAS225 | Sika Code: 852564 | EAN: 5029347099046

Quick Product Summary: 10m x 225mm grey self-adhesive flashing tape for broader repair strips. Best for parapet details, skylight edges, wider flashing laps, gutter runs and roof sheet overlaps where medium-width tape may not give enough cover but 300mm may be more difficult to handle. Porous brick, blockwork or concrete may need priming before application.

Sika Black Jack Self-Adhesive Flashing Tape 10m x 225mm is a wider grey flashing tape with a lead-look finish for broader roof repairs, parapet details, skylight edges, gutter seams, roof ridges and larger waterproofing jobs. It has an aluminium foil face and a bitumen rubber adhesive backing, helping form a waterproof seal when pressed firmly onto a clean, dry and suitable prepared surface.

The 225mm width gives noticeably more coverage than the 150mm roll while remaining easier to handle than the wider 300mm and 450mm options. It is a useful choice where the repair area needs a broader strip of tape, but the job does not need the widest flashing tape in the range.

Where This 225mm Flashing Tape Fits

This 225mm roll is suited to wider repair zones where narrow detail tape would require too many strips or overlaps.

  • Sealing wider roof seams, joints and flashing laps.
  • Repairing broader flashing damage around roof edges and upstands.
  • Waterproofing gutter edges, lead gutter repairs and larger gutter details.
  • Covering rows of roof sheet fixings, capping bolts and wider roof details.
  • Flashing parapet walls, skylight areas and roof glazing edges.
  • Sealing larger cracks in suitable prepared concrete or building surfaces.
  • Creating a wider grey lead-look waterproofing strip on suitable prepared surfaces.

Why Choose The 225mm Width

Choose the 225mm roll when the repair needs broader coverage than a 150mm tape but does not need the full width of a 300mm or 450mm roll. It is a practical mid-to-wide option for roof maintenance, gutter repairs, parapet details, skylight edges and larger flashing overlaps.

For narrow seams, bolt heads or small repair points, the 75mm or 100mm rolls may be easier to place. For medium-width roof seams and controlled flashing work, the 150mm roll may be enough. For larger patch repairs or very broad roof details, the 300mm or 450mm sizes may be more suitable.

Key Performance Benefits

  • Broader Repair Width: The 225mm size gives wider coverage for roof seams, flashing laps and larger repair zones.
  • Self-Adhesive Backing: The bitumen rubber adhesive backing removes the need for a separate adhesive on suitable prepared surfaces.
  • Grey Lead-Look Finish: The aluminium foil face gives a lead-look appearance for roof and flashing repair work.
  • 10m Roll Length: The roll provides enough material for several wider repair runs or repeated maintenance tasks.
  • Cut-To-Length Use: The tape can be measured and cut to suit the repair before the backing is removed.
  • Useful Trade Size: Suitable for roofers, builders, maintenance teams and competent DIY users carrying out wider external repairs.

Applying The 225mm Tape To Broader Repair Areas

The 225mm roll covers a wider section in one pass, so it is worth setting the tape out before removing too much of the backing. This helps keep the strip straight, reduces the risk of creasing and makes it easier to press the full width down evenly.

  • Step 1: Clean the full repair zone, including the outer edges of where the tape will sit. Remove dust, loose material, grease, oil and any surface contamination.
  • Step 2: Check that the surface is dry, sound and stable. Do not apply the tape over damp, loose or breaking material.
  • Step 3: Prime porous surfaces such as brick, blockwork or concrete where required, then allow the primer to dry before fitting the tape.
  • Step 4: Offer the tape up to the repair area first, then cut the length needed before exposing the adhesive backing.
  • Step 5: Peel back a small starter section of the release film and fix one end of the tape in position.
  • Step 6: Pull the backing away gradually while pressing the tape down across the centre and out towards both edges.
  • Step 7: Use a small roller over the full width, paying close attention to edges, corners, overlaps and any change in surface level.

When 225mm Flashing Tape Is Not The Best Fit

This 225mm flashing tape is designed for broader external sealing work on suitable prepared surfaces. It should not be used where the surface is weak, contaminated, damp, or where the repair area is clearly outside the best size range for this roll.

  • Do not apply to: Damp, wet, dirty, oily, greasy, loose, crumbling or unstable surfaces.
  • Use a narrower roll for detail work: For bolt heads, small fixing points, tight seams or small gutter details, a narrower tape may be easier to control.
  • Use a wider roll for larger patches: For broad patch repairs or large roof details that need more coverage in one strip, a wider tape may be more suitable.
  • Prime first where needed: Porous brick, blockwork, concrete and similar absorbent surfaces may need Sika Black Jack Bitumen and Flashing Primer before application.

Technical Application Notes For 225mm Tape

The following application points are based on manufacturer technical guidance and should be checked against the current data sheet before use. At this width, the main challenge is keeping the strip controlled, straight and fully bonded across the whole repair area before the adhesive grips.

  • Use within the manufacturer-stated application temperature range of 5°C to 40°C.
  • Do not apply over damp, wet, dirty, loose or unstable material.
  • Clean beyond the visible repair so the full 225mm strip, including both outside edges, lands on a properly prepared surface.
  • Remove dust, loose particles, oil, grease and surface contamination before positioning the tape.
  • Prime porous brick, blockwork, concrete or similar absorbent surfaces where required, then allow the primer to dry before applying the tape.
  • Measure the repair run first and cut the tape to length while the release backing is still in place.
  • Offer the cut strip into position before bonding, especially around parapet details, skylight edges, gutter runs, roof sheet profiles and wider flashing overlaps.
  • Use at least 25mm overlaps where separate sections of tape meet.
  • Start with a short exposed section of adhesive, fix that end in place, then pull the backing away gradually as the tape is pressed down.
  • Keep the loose section supported while applying it, as wider tape can crease, fold or stick to itself if too much backing is removed at once.
  • Work from the centre of the strip out towards both edges so trapped air is pushed away from the middle of the repair.
  • Roll the tape across the full 225mm width, including the outer edges, corners and overlap points.
  • Check upstands, corners, gutter edges, roof sheet profiles and changes in surface level carefully, as these areas are more likely to leave gaps if not pressed down properly.
  • In cold weather or after cold storage, adhesion may be reduced. Allow the tape to warm up or gently warm the bitumen adhesive layer with a hot air blower if needed.
  • Always check the current manufacturer technical data sheet before use.

Safety: Wear protective gloves, eye protection and suitable work clothing when cutting and applying this flashing tape. Work from a safe position and avoid unsupported roof access. Because the 225mm strip is wider than detail tape, take extra care when handling cut lengths, removing the backing and pressing the adhesive face into place. Keep waste, backing film and residue away from drains and watercourses.

Products To Help With Preparation And Clean-Up

For porous brick, blockwork or concrete areas, prepare the surface with Sika Black Jack 902 Bitumen and Flashing Primer 1L before applying the tape.

For cleaning hands, tools or nearby marks after cutting, handling and pressing the wider strip into place, use Heavy Duty Sika Everbuild Textured Wonder Wipes – 75 Wipe Tub.
